For customers who are looking for a small sedan that has the basic well, the new 2017 Toyota Corolla is a smart choice. The automaker has sold 43 million Corollas, through 11 generations, and claims it as the best-selling nameplate of all time.
For 2017, the new model gets some front-end work done such as new LED headlights, upgraded interior upholstery, a standard rearview camera, and a lot of safety features not usually found in a compact sedan. It’s available in L, LE, LE Eco, SE, XLE, SE 50th Anniversary edition and XSE trim levels.
The 2017 Toyota Corolla is equipped with two version of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. In all trim levels except the LE Eco, the engine produces 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. The LE Eco’s powertrain uses a sophisticated valvetrain to maximize fuel efficiency and generates more power, with 140 hp and 126 lb-ft of torque.
Standard equipment on the base L version includes 15-inch steel wheels, LED running lights, power mirrors, bi-LED headlights, doors and locks, adaptive cruise control, air-conditioning, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. It also has a six-way adjustable driver seat and four-way front passenger seat, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, a six-speaker Entune audio system with 6.1-inch touchscreen, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, voice controls, Siri Eyes Free voice control system, USB ports and an auxiliary jack.
The ongoing Corolla’s interior is the nicest one to date. It comes with a stylish dashboard and un-Corolla-like flourishes like a sport-contoured steering wheel. Large virtual buttons, clear graphics, and quick response to touch inputs, it’s one of the easiest infotainment systems to use in the economy car class.
For safety features, all 2017 Toyota Corollas come standard with stability and traction control antilock brakes, a driver knee airbag, side curtain airbags, and a passenger seat cushion airbag. It also comes with a Toyota Safety Sense P system, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with steering assist and automatic high beams.
